CCC Process

Unreinforced Concrete Column (CCC) inclusion is a creative and innovative ground improvement solution that integrates both low deformation modulus and rigid inclusions within compressible clayey soils. ompressibility. This  technique is widely used in the areas of the close proximity of the existing services and sensitive structures due to the absence of vibrations due to its construction. The CCC achieves both settlement and bearing capacity requirements for the ground improvement projects.

The purpose of Controlled Concrete Columns (CCC) is  mitigating foundation settlement and achieving bearing capacity requirements helping achieve structural stability. It also minimizes the risk of direct lateral impact on rigid inclusions resulting from post-construction activities. The process unfolds as follows:

  1. Platform Preparation: Prior to installation, the working platform is meticulously prepared for the CCC construction operation. This helps in smooth operations of the CCC machines with due consideration to the safety of the equipments and people working on the site.
  2. Rig Placement: The CCC rig is precisely positioned in readiness for the procedure, and data recording begins.
  3. Auger or Tube Penetration: A displacement auger or vibrated tube is utilized to penetrate the ground to the designated depth. This is where the primary action takes place and the hole is drilled.
  4. Concrete Infusion: As the tool is retracted, concrete is efficiently pumped into the bored hole, forming the controlled rigid inclusion.
  5. Stone Column Integration: Once the rigid inclusion reaches the prescribed level, a column of gravel or crushed stone is added atop. The length of this column is tailored to the project’s specific requirements, which may involve shallow foundations, rafts, slabs, and soil stratigraphy. Typically, this column ranges from 1.0 to 1.5 meters, although deeper installation may be considered depending on project needs.

This comprehensive process synergizes to achieve the objectives of CCC, providing enhanced foundation stability and reducing the risk of settlement.
