Sheet Pile Shoring

A sheet piling is a common shoring system adopted for the lateral soil restraint during the deep excavations for the underground constructions. The sheet piles are made of steel acting as plates once driven into the ground. In the lateral direction, elements of the sheet piles are connected at bends to integrate with one another to act as a steel sheet wall. This acts as a wall. For heavy loads, these sheet piles are supported by beams and braces. Steel sheet piles act as a restraint to the lateral pressure controlling the movement.

Process

The sheet piling construction involves  driving of the steel sheets into the relatively softer ground either by vibrations or by hammering. After the driving of the steel sheet piles into the ground, excavations for the underground constructions are carried out in stages. Based on the design requirements, the extra support system for the sheet piles, such as beams and braces, are attached to support the wall. The construction of sheet piles also involves a continuous monitoring system for its lateral movement
