Seacant Pile Shoring

Secant piles are constructed by interlocking within one another to form a continuous wall of the piles. This structure, made of piles, reinformed and unreinforced, has a relatively better lateral support system and a better water seepage control into the excavations.

Process

Secant piles are constructed as hard-hard or hard soft system. For better alignment of the piles and support to the piles at the top, a guide wall is constructed. With the help of this guide wall, unreinforced or reinforced alternate primary piles are cast first. After reaching the required strength of these piles, adjacent secondary reinforced piles are casted. The reinforced secondary piles are cast in between and through the section of these primary piles.

Common Uses:

  • Protection of existing structures
  • Lateral support system for earth as well as ground water.
  • Construction of underpasses, metro stations and deep basement excavations

Advantages

  • Deep excavations
  • Construction in hard strata
  • Protection of sensitive surrounding buildings
  • Low lateral movement
  • Stops inflow of ground water into the excavation zones
