The installation process involves feeding the drain through a hollow mandrel, attached to an expendable anchor plate at the bottom, and utilizing either a vibratory hammer or a static method to insert it to the specified depth. After removal, the Wick Drain remains in place, and the process is repeated, creating a pattern of vertical wick drains that provide concise drainage pathways for pore water.
